What is my end date of employment for resume purposes?

atjackson1416 asked:

I have been off of work with brain cancer. My employment has not been terminated and I have not quit. It is a long commute(over an hour on way) and I don’t think I can do it any longer. I am working on my resume and wonder can I still list them as my current employer.

I need career advice, thinking about a career in the FBI as a criminal profiler?

lionheart asked:

I’m still not sure yet but i think I want to become a supervisory special agent with the NCAVC or a criminal profiler as its more commonly known. Of course I realize that I will spend many years as an FBI special agent first and even then getting into the NCAVC and even then its not guaranteed. I’m only a freshman in high-school but I want to start planning on a career as soon as possible. Right now I’m just looking for any kind of advice such as useful courses to take in college, working conditions of an FBI special agent and/or criminal profiler or alternate careers in the FBI.
I’m generally an intelligent person and I’m good at figuring things out and reasoning- I’m a logical thinker. I just want a career where i can use my skills and also make the world a better place in some way. If you know of any other careers (in or outside criminal justice) that sound like what I’m looking for that would also be a big help.

Thank you for all your help.

What are the general laws regarding employment verification?

momteamlv asked:

I live in Nevada and was wondering if anyone knew the general laws regarding what an employer can and cannot say about you when someone calls to verify employment. I know a reference can say whatever they want but what about a previous employer? Thanks.

How far back do background checks look at employment records?

A True Blue Fan from Philly asked:

I have lots of years of employment history, lots of different places as I’m the mother of 4.

How far back, in years, will a potential employer check employment records? 7 years? I didn’t indicate employment going way back as I started working full time in 1978.

Thanks.
I checked my credit report and all 3 reports only show the past 7 years. Is that what they use to check?

What are some good jobs for people law degrees?

David F asked:

I have a law degree and a business degree, but I’m having a hard time finding a job. I’ve spent a lot of time and money on school, I’ve posted my resume on numerous job sites, but unfortunately, I’m running out of ideas on where to find employment. I need to make a certain amount of money to pay off my student loans, so I need help with suggestions on types of jobs that I am qualified for and where to find these jobs. Thanks.
