EmPLOYMENT?

CHIcon asked:

could/have you ever or could/would you ever date someone that was unemployed?
Qualification: they are only ‘temporarily’ unemployed (think about our economy…it may happen to any one!!!!) but temporary can be any where form a week to whenever…does it make you think less of that person…would you give them a chance or would you move on? i know that this is not an ideal situation to be in but you never know IF you may find youself in this situation
as i add this i have trepidation…i don’t need people to tell me that i haven’t done what i can do (because i HAVE!!!)…this is the second time that i have found myself unemployed in the last 5 yrs now…the first was before i graduated college (14months) and now i am going on 6 months…believe you-me it is not for lack of trying!!!! i have a BA degree and qualifications for every job that i apply for…it seems the response overwhelmingly is…’we don’t want qualified candidiates..we want cheap labor’…the flip side of that is ‘you’re overqualified’ for the simple jobs that would afford me a ‘life’…because they see the degree on my resume and know that it’s not worth the risk to hire someone that they know can up and leave when something better comes along…the available jobs have dwindled while the pool has saturated…i haven’t gone on the dole because i didn’t think it would take this long…but what else can i do? now answer the question…

Well there is a difference between someone looking for work and someone who sits on their butt all day and does nothing.

If they where genuinely looking for work it wouldn’t make a scrap of difference to me.

Of course I’d date someone umemployed. As long as it was only temporary. Go any longer than 2-3 months without a job and that’s just too long.

I now live in a country outside the US with a very strong triple A rating economy and low unemployment. Anyone could get a good paying job in a day or choose to take a casual job while taking a work related training course while looking for a position. There are so many positions available and not enough people to fill them. I work a full time job and two casual positions a week plus I’m actively involved in sport. So I never have time to add a partner in the mix. I’ve never knocked anyone loosing there job due to change over of the management or business sold, or put on the scrap heap after active service or due to an illness making them not able to work of course I would date them. Somebody who continuously looses there job to very poor performance or taking too many sickies from over indulging and has a I’ll look for a job tomorrow attitude is debatable. As I refuse any excessive baggage or surround myself with negative persons in my life is my new years resolution. I don’t break resolutions.
