What can potential employers find out on employment history and credit report?
freakette85 asked:
I just got offered a position but it is contingent upon employment history check and a credit report. I quit the last job I had without much of a notice because of personal family issues and I was no longer able to work and I told my boss that. Will this hurt my chances of officially getting this new job? What all do they need ask on employment history and credit reports?? I’m a little nervous I might not get this job…

Having been out of the business world for 15 years, many things may have changed. The most important factor was the experience the person was bringing to the job, and the resume which could be checked. In a few instances we hired and trained for particular jobs due to their specialization. We never looked for a credit report. That was personal and no business of the company. Where cash sales were concerned, we instituted a double check for sales and cash balancing and the manager was responsible for accuracy. He was also responsible for the deposits.
